Good bye depression! A balanced and healthy diet is a key point for a healthy and peaceful life!

Depression is very common in our age, everybody knows someone in his inner circle that  was suffering from this disease.

If you suffer from anxiety, depression, changing your eating habits is probably one of the most accessible and powerful move you can make! It will help you reach your serenity more easily. For some people, it may even save their life!

Food is really a key point for those who want a more serene, healthier and happier life!

There can be no serenity in an unhealthy body and there is no good health if we put aside everything related to our bodies and our food. It’s as simple as that!

The easiest way to improve your diet is to cut out the junk. We should consider our “occidental” diet, which usually consist in eating industrial products, fast food, pizza, bread, coffee, alcohol, cakes, meat, a lot of sugar, soda. Moreover people with depression usually have a bigger appetite to fill the emptiness they are feeling and they usually do not have the desire or the motivation to cook.

To fight depression we should turn slowly to a plant based diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, local and organic. Discover the benefits of green juice, steamed cooking for keeping the nutrients of the foods, rediscover the benefit of spices, herbs, teas, etc.

Banana for example is very great and so easy to eat! It is a source of tryptophan, an amino acid that helps improving good mood, help with relaxation and increase self-confidence. Bananas are also rich in magnesium, another ingredient that helps to relax, and in B6 vitamin used a lot with people suffering from depression. It also contains carbohydrates that stimulates the production of serotonin, the hormone of happiness.

In a lot of cases changing your diet will also help you with food intolerances, ease the digestive and assimilative process, detoxify the body and the intestinal flora, adjust biological rhythms.

Based on my own experience, food can usually make a big difference! By incorporating more fruits and vegetables, and drinking more water, you will feel better, healthier and with more energy! On the mental side you will experience more  joy, serenity and inner peace.
